Autumn Term
The 2024 autumn term begins on Friday 20th September.
We are a friendly amateur daytime orchestra based in South London, formed in the 1960s by Leonard Davis, a prominent local orchestral conductor.
Our varied programmes have included Handel, Telemann, Haydn, Beethoven and Mozart. 20th century composers include Elgar, Vaughan-Williams, Sibelius, Finzi, Peter Warlock and Butterworth.
We rehearse on Friday mornings from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the Chatsworth Baptist Church in West Norwood (see Contact Section for details). We usually have three terms a year and welcome new applications for membership at any time.
The orchestra has a lively informal atmosphere and the rehearsals are enjoyed by everyone. There are no auditions and if you wish, you can come and join in or just listen and decide if the SLSO might be for you!
